Interpreting
What does interpreting involve?
Interpreting is the oral rendering of the spoken word into one or more target languages. One of the following three types of interpreting is selected, depending on the particular circumstances involved:
- simultaneous interpreting
- consecutive interpreting
- liaison interpreting
Simultaneous interpreting
We arrange for qualified conference interpreters to work for you at organised events requiring two or more languages. Simultaneous interpretation is the most expeditious mode and is now also the most common form of interpretation. As the name suggests, the translation comes at practically the same time as the original utterance. For that, you require not only trained interpreters but also a permanent or portable simultaneous installation, including interpreter booths. Where required, we can also help to arrange the services of specialised providers of simultaneous equipment for you.
Consecutive interpreting
In smallish groups, it is also possible to interpret consecutively. This mode does not require a simultaneous installation. The rendering in the target language comes after the original utterance, which is why this type of interpretation takes more time than simultaneous interpreting.
Liaison interpreting
For negotiations involving a very restricted number of people, we are able to offer liaison interpretation. This type of interpretation does not call for any form of technical equipment and is particularly tailored to the needs of small discussion groups.
